Went uptown and finally got a copy of the Darger book that I wanted from the American Folk Art Museum. I've been obsessing about it since I last saw the exhibition at the museum. Salamat Uncle Sam, I'm going to read it tonight with a huge bowl of guacamole and chips. Hopefully this will start my creative juices flowing that is currently... dry. Not that I'm in no mood to paint but because since August I have been painting non-stop and have decided to be on a "painting break" this month. I don't think it would be wise to start preparing on my December show with very little creative sparks left. While on break, I plan to see as much interesting shows, immerse myself with new things and just totally expose myself to as much "stimuli" as I could possibly can. Hopefully my brain gets nourished enough to think that it could paint again.
Before heading home I went to the Murakami show again and was lucky enough to be given the last ticket of the day. The museum closes at 5pm and they give out the last ticket at 4:15pm. It was too quick for a viewing, but I went anyway. I did see the new Monogramouflage line and was kind of disappointed. The had this passport holder that could be used as a wallet that retails for $350 a pop. I'm not even gonna go there. I do, however, seriously want a Murakami DVD they have. Maybe I can pick up a copy next week when I try to go to the museum earlier so I can enjoy and take my time around the show.
Some random photos from today.
P.S.
Having crossed out one of my TO BUY things, I have seen new things to add on to the list. Why?
And while I was at Western Beef doing my weekly grocery shopping, I realized I've ended up with the most dairy products I've bought in a while. A jug of milk, a block of Meunster cheese, cottage cheese, a dozen eggs...
Oh, and thanks to the tomato scare.. THE word to use in a sentence is salmonella. Remember SARS? and Cherryhill?
