I switched with Ryan at work today so I could go catch the opening since Thursdays I close. Swung by Cafe Macaron before heading to the gallery on 5th avenue to get a snack. I had been dreaming about a Norvegian and macarons all day at work. Too bad the kitchen was already closed when I got there (kitchen closes at 4:30pm but cafe remains open until 7pm) so I settled for a piece of macaron instead. I wanted to get a whole box (6 pieces) but since I'm practicing restraint... I went ahead and just had a raspberry flavored one. Macarons are something you can't eat a lot of in one sitting, that would be just nasty.
The opening was very quiet, maybe because I got there a little after 6pm. There were probably about fifty people there when I arrived. Mostly Japanese kids and a number of camera crews. No celebrities... maybe they were going to arrive after 8pm when the gallery is closed to the public. I also noticed that a line was starting to form to get KAWS autograph stuff and have photos taken with him. I thought about falling and waiting in line, but I was just too pooped out so I just tried to do a round and see the works. Took a few photos too. I would like to see the show another time and fully appreciate the works when there's not a ton of people in the gallery clamoring. It would be more enjoyable that way. It runs until December 23rd, so I have plenty of time.

Maybe some good news. I have not touched a cup of coffee ever since I had that GERD episode. I was talking to Lisa about missing having iced coffee in the mornings and she mentioned that I should try drinking cold brew coffee instead. Say what? She mentions that it's the best way to have iced coffee and that's what Seattle's Best does. What it does is that it cuts out the acidity in coffee that is produced when it's brewed the usual way. The flavor of the coffee becomes more intense and that the bitter after taste is replaced by a sweeter finish. I looked into it through wiki and found out that it's also called a Toddy coffee. A couple times after narrowing my search on Google led me to a few recipes where I found one that I particularly liked over at Apartment Therapy. I'm going to try it very soon, and hopefully my stomach wont act all violent after gulping down my first iced coffee in months.

I shipped all my paintings for the December show to Manila yesterday. I do need one more piece, and I'm thinking of making a sculpture just to make things interesting. To be honest, I'm a little over whelmed with all the things I need to be doing before I leave on the 8th. Aside from preparing for this particular show, I have other things I need to tend to like MFA applications and other art projects. Not to mention lakwatsas.
