crowns.

So I finally solved my hat crisis. Last week Ryan and I walked into this random hat store in the East Village and found a wool stingy in this weird blue-gray color. I tried it on and it fit me perfectly, I would've gotten it had it not been $168. I do need a hat for fall/winter aside from my newsboy/helmet hat so I thought about it seriously. There's just no way to justify swiping away for that price, I'm over it now. Being the obsessed one that I am I just had to find a hat to keep my head warm for the next few months so I headed out this morning to this gentlemans' hat store called Hat Corner on Nassau st. It's a hole in the wall shop open since the late 1950's and has every NY man walk out with amazing hats from derbies to stingies (they literally have everything!). I know of this place since I used to spend my lunch breaks there (aside from the hardware next door) when I worked at Starbuko browsing thru, uh hats. I've bought a couple hats there before and always found their stuff to be well made. I like how uncommercial and laid back it is. The gentleman there was very helpful and patient with me when I was trying on several hats this morning. He was even kind enough to adjust my hat just so it fit my head perfectly!

I knew what I wanted even before I came in, so choosing was a matter of fabric, color and variation of the style. I've been obsessing over porkpies since last year, I even thought about getting a straw version last summer but never got to. I picked-up a stingy wool porkpie which only cost me a third of what the hat I obsessed about last week. I'm such a happy boy now I'm ready for fall! No more beanies and skullies for me this year!
