One of the days I was able to tag along with him around the city we hit Times Square to catch Spring Awakening. Ofcourse it being a Saturday, we had to indulge in brunch where I brought him to Petite Abeille on 17th st. before heading to the theater district. Food is always a hit in this place, unfortunately I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I would've wanted to since I woke up with a weird scratchy feeling in my throat that morning.
I've always wanted to see Spring Awakening after seeing their performance during the 2007 Tony Awards.
A coming of age story involving sex, suicide, failure and all that good teen age angst in between. Who could not relate to this?! It was so good that I had the song "Totally Fucked" ringing in my ears after watching it. Thank you Ricky for my ticket :)
We headed over to the garment district to eat at Cafe Macaron. Ricky swears by it and it's has always been on my to try out list for a long time now. The space is tiny and the service is quite slow (theres only one person, a friendly French girl in uniform, manning the place) but the food makes up for everything. After having a Norvegian (filone bread, smoked salmon, capers, cream cheese w/ scallions and dill) and about 4 macarons (jasmine, coconut, mango and fig) I am thankful that this place is not as accesible to me. The Norvegian has got to be the best sandwich I've ever had in a long time and the macarons where just amazing bursting with chewiness inside in contrast with the crunchy outer shell. SIGH.
I'm staying in the apartment for the rest of this weekend painting, doing laundry and the rest of my house chores.
