Enough about art... let's talk about food. So while I impatiently wait on my paint to dry (I'm currently working on a 6x9 ft. painting) I decided to look up a couple restaurants that I would like to try out for the next coming months.
See, I've been thinking about if I have enough "marks" or "spots" around the city to be able to call it my NY. Like I want to have a mental list of places I love to eat, hang out, shop, visit etc. in... A decent list enough to give to someone who's never been to NY and feel that NY is such an amazing place to be in after visiting the spots that I love. I've also noticed how much of a robot I've become since July only staying in on weekends and doing nothing but paint, work and chores. I might as well be in Manila for that. It's driving me insane and I honestly think that its one of the causes of my on going battling session with GERD (slowly ending that is...). This little project would be a good way to have something to look forward to. Food is always good in my book!
The plan is to visit a few restaurants within the next couple months. I just need to try it first and see if I develop a taste bud for it and go from there. Like it would be a weird thing to say that "This is my favorite restaurant" when I've only eaten there once. So I would have to eat at least 3 times there before considering it a spot for "my" NY. A good example is Petite Abeille, a definite "my NY" spot. I've eaten there so many times I've already lost count. So is Yogee, Nha Trang, Amai Tea House, Almondine, Jess Bakery... It could be a place I accidentally passed by or read/heard about in a blog/magazine/thru a friend. As long as it gets me curious enough and excited by it's menu, I'm all for it!
Below is my first list of places I would like to try...
• Prune (saw in tv)
• Macaron Cafe (read)
• Barney Greengrass (heard)
• Freeman's (heard/bumped)
• mexican place in DUMBO (bumped)
Also, after watching the FoodNetwork for a week now, I've come to realize how I've forgotten to cook. I cook almost everyday, but what I've been doing is default cooking. Meaning I've been cooking just to have something to eat and is slightly becoming a chore quite frankly. So along with my restaurant list I'm going to try to shop for groceries in different places aside from my usual Western Beef. Food is such a big part of who I am that I would want to be in gastronomic delight where ever and what ever food I'm having.
I'm also on the look out for a place to hang-out in like a cafe, a bar where I can have drinks after work and another place I can just let loose in and dance.
Hopefully this food plan will help have new energy for "living in NY" again. The last thing I would like to say is that "I surviving NY", that would be suicide.

hey am making a list of my own, too! thanks to you, ive tried Nha Trang (tama ba?) and Jess Bakery. :)
I'll check out your list. Most of the places I've gone to are "tourist' places. I want a NY insiders list--and your a New Yorker now!
I hope I wake up everyday there and consider it an adventure...and not just coast along. Life is short. When in NY, live it up :)
oh, how fun! i was thinking of tagging others for this "list" too when i wrote it, considering most of the people i know are now every where!
we can go search for good food and spots once your here! the pinoy panlasa is very discriminating, so i discovered... haha!
and yes, i think that everyday should be an adventure... or at least make it feel like one. its the only reason why i came up with this list in the first place. im afraid of burn-out! anyway, im super excited for you!!!
