clusterfuck.

I was staring into space while I was in my room when I had yet another realization that the more available flat surfaces you have in a given space, the more clusterfuck prone it is.

Clusterfuck: state of chaotic mess.

My (now ex) boss used to bitch at us at the store every time the floor looked like as if someone merchandised the store haphazardly. "The store looks like shit! It's a clusterfuck in here!" he would say. Meaning, there was no logic as to where an item was placed on and what it sat next to. O well.

I just think that this is funny. Also, having a small apartment and working at a thrift store makes me want to practice this design sensibility of having less. I'm still in search of a proper term of this particular "school" I've always been attracted to. It's clean like Mid-century but not stark like zen. It's contemporary but not cold... like industrial with warmth. It's a little rustic, but not shabby chic. Always functional.

I'm not quite sure why I'm writing about house decorating... probably because I saw Andy Spade (of Jack Spade) walk by my store while I was in the window painting the walls. And you know I think Jack Spade has this style down pat.

P.S.

To the photographer who owns this home, I swiped your photos. But I forgot your name and I can't credit you properly. It was thru a design blog that I blog hopped to your site. I saved the photos months ago into my computer. Please don't get mad and shoot me. Spade photo, Vogue.

hmmm actually it's not zen or a style, i think. it's simple organization--kaya you love martha stewart's catalogued stock room. it's just putting things where they belong and knowing where your stuff are visually and having designated places for everything--parang print ad layout dapat lahat kelangan walang extraneous elements. dapat may grid.

ex. all glasses together. all white vases together. all keys in a bowl. shoes in a rack etc. then eliminating stuff that's not needed or simply hiding them in a proper container.

yuck ka-OC OCan!

anton: no, im still in my same apartment... i love this place too much now. i cant give up the park and the subway station across my building...

arnie: i dont know... theres gotta be a term for this OC style then.. but yeah, it definitely big on organization and only having what you need and really love.
