sugar blooms and carbohydrate buds.

I found these at the Associated Supermarket on Myrtle Ave. in Brooklyn on the way to the warehouse a couple weeks ago...

They were called Floras de Gallettas (or something like that). I said "Iced Gems!" out loud in excitement after stumbling upon these little things in one of the aisles. Iced Gems are the bomb, next to Choco Mallows and Puff Cones. Not as brightly colored as Nabisco's tho... it also had this weird lemon taste. Lemon flavoring reminds me of all the things one of my lola's (my dad's aunt) would bake. She used lemon flavoring on everything from cakes to cookies aside from the accidental dog hair (I KNOW!) in her deserts. The dog hair is another story. Anyway, the hint of lemon on these cookies didn't stop me from finishing the whole can. I also remember seeing on the label that it was a product of Thailand. Weird.
